with Parker RopeBoi
Parker RopeBoi is known internationally for innovative self-suspension techniques and a unique dynamic style of shibari self-suspension. They have presented performances of and workshops on shibari self-suspension across North America and Europe.
In this day-long intensive workshop, participants will learn new a whole new range of possibilities for their self-suspensions. Parker RopeBoi has carefully selected skills, strategies, and techniques, as well as specific ties and transitions, to teach in this workshop curriculum, which draws upon their decade of experience, original performance repertoire, and personal self-suspension practice.
This workshop is designed to expand your range of available positional options in self-suspension, enable smoother and more controlled transitions, reduce physical exertion, make your self-suspensions more sustainable, and increase the amount of time that you can comfortably stay in the air.
If you have questions about the prerequisites and whether this class is suitable for your rope background/skill level, please contact [email protected]
The intensive is not an introduction to self-suspension. It is designed for people who already have done some self-suspension and are seeking to expand beyond the ties and suspension positions they know and to refine their techniques. Please see the schedule below for specifics on the content to be covered and sidebar for prerequsite skills necessary to get the most out of this Intensive!
If your self-suspension background is much more advanced or less advanced than the median experience level of the class, the intensive provides many opportunities for doing a more advanced or less advanced versions of the particular activity, so that everyone can participate and learn at a level that’s appropriate for each individual. The goal is for all participants to expand and improve their range of self-suspension skills in a way that’s best for each person, and that does not necessarily mean that everyone is doing exactly the same ties at the same time.
