About Guy Baldwin

Guy Baldwin is a part-time Life Coach and retired California-licensed psychotherapist with 45 years of experience in private practice. Since the late 1960s, he has been an active participator in and thoughtful observer and commentator on the American Leather Scene.
In 1982 Baldwin created a database of professionals who knew about and were not prejudiced against kink and BDSM called the Kink Aware Professionals list (KAP list). It has been expanded and is now managed by the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom as the Kink And Polyamory Aware Professionals Directory.

GuyBaldwin and other IML1989 contest winnersIn 1989, judges chose Baldwin to serve as the 11th International Mister Leather (IML). Weeks earlier, judges made him the second Mr. National Leather Association. He is the only man to have held both titles concurrently.

For nearly five decades, Baldwin has crisscrossed the continent teaching audiences of erotic adventurers how to have less trouble doing, and more fun exploring ‘outside-the-box’ sexualities. An acclaimed speaker, he has delivered keynote addresses at numerous lifestyle events.

Guy has published three books, and authored numerous essays in a wide array of lifestyle publications. Now in it’s fourth printing, and recently made available as an e-book, SlaveCraft has long been considered nearly essential reading for those who feel turbo-charged by the voluntary inclusion of Authority in their erotic and romantic relationships. Mark Thompson, a senior editor at The Advocate, included Baldwin and 15 other “Writers, Healers, Teachers and Visionaries” in his 1994 book, Gay Soul.

In 2000, the Leather Archives & Museum honored Guy as a “Centurion,” recognizing him as one of the twenty most significant contributors to the Leather lifestyle in the 20th century. In 2008, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) presented him with the Leather Leadership Award, and in 2009, he was the first recipient of the Master/slave Heritage Award. Guy’s lifetime of service has been celebrated with many accolades, including the Pantheon of Leather Lifetime Achievement Award and the Tom of Finland Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He was even immortalized in a drawing by Tom himself. Guy was inducted into the Leather Hall of Fame in 2012 and The Society of Janus’ Hall of Fame.

With Guy Baldwin you never know precisely what you’re going to get, but one thing is for sure, as a lifelong activist, a pioneer of radical sexuality, and a seeker of clarity, he never fails to challenge listeners by fearlessly speaking truth exactly as he has discovered it.
