When I left my front door heading for RopeCraft, I was dreading everything.
Then I ran into rope friends in the airport who drug me into sitting with them on the plane. We all shared a shuttle to the hotel where I was immediately greeted with something I hadn’t felt in a long time. It’s really hard to describe but over the next couple of days I realized that I was feeling my family again. We got the gang back together and it was glorious. Sure, there were a few faces missing but there were also a ton of new faces to join us. Mostly, it had the feeling of home that I’ve been missing for years.
I didn’t learn a lot of new rope this weekend (I should get on that before the other riggers realize that I know about 10% of the Japanese forms that they do) but I learned something more important to me. My rope joy has centered around this happy space of my rope family and having that back for this weekend has left me in tears more than once.
